Fact Checker Zone called the picture shared under the text showing the killing of monks and Christians by the Ethiopian government soldiers in Gojam Debre Elias monastery in Amhara region because it happened 7 years ago in Kenya.
On the page called “Orthodox Daily News” which has more than 9 thousand followers on Twitter, we have seen that the picture attached under the description of the attack on Debre Elias monastery by Ethiopian soldiers was used in 2014.
It was re-shared more than 150 times and was viewed by more than 5,000 people. The post read, “Hundreds of Christians have been killed. The Ethiopian government has relentlessly massacred the monks and Christians of Gojam Debre Elias Monastery in the past 5 days.”

There were reports that a number of people were killed and others were injured in the conflict that occurred at the Trinity Unity Monastery in East Gojam Zone, Debre Elias District, Amhara Region.
Fact Checker Zone is one of the social networking sites on Twitter today, May 25, 2015. According to Fact Checker Zone, the picture captured under the attack that was carried out by Ethiopian soldiers was used for the first time in 2014.

In addition, we have seen that France 24 news agency used the picture in 2015. The news agent attached the picture to the news that 14 people were killed in an attack on mining workers near the town of Mandera in the northeast of Kenya.

In addition to the two, Fact Checker Zone has seen that the picture has been used at various times, and it does not show the recent attack by Ethiopian soldiers on monks and Christians at Debre Elias monastery. Fact Checker Zone called the picture fake as it was an attack by al-Shabaab in Kenya 7 years ago.
